I’m an introvert
"Do something everyday that scares you. We’ve all seen this before, it pops up on our IG feed in those intense memes or blog posts, and it’s some epic advice that’s been floating the universe for decades. But what does it mean, really? Like should I lean over the edge of a tall building, toe the line at a race, or walk up to that cute guy in the gym and start a convo? Maybe, I guess. We know it is really saying to seek out the things that make you feel ALIVE. What is it about being scared that makes us feel alive? Is that why my teenage daughter loves horror films? That rush of adrenaline and uncertainty? So I must ask you, what in your life makes you feel ALIVE? What other moments of your normal, daily life come close to that feeling of adrenaline you get when you do something super scary? Why are you not doing more of that?
I am going to let you in on a secret, I am an introvert. There is not one class I teach, not one training I give that does not make me feel uncomfortable or make me slightly anxious to begin. A lot of times I can use this feeling to keep me on point, and a lot of times I want to crawl into a hole. Isn’t it interesting that the same triggers can elicit different responses from your psyche depending on the day? (A lot of big words in there). It could be a matter of perspective from one day to the next, or hormones, or how well you slept. My point is this. Whether rational or irrational, seek out those things in your DAILY life that make you feel ALIVE and CHALLENGE you. Most often, those are the things that push you to be the BEST VERSION of YOURSELF.”
