Take a Look Inside!
We look at not only bloodwork, but Resting Heart Rate, HRV (Heart Rate Variability), and other physiological markers like body temperature, sleep stages, and readiness scores (here we used the Oura Ring)
This client is 50, not only had blood work on the very high end of normal (Blood Pressure, ApoB, Cholesterol) but for their fitness level, a resting heart rate higher than I’d like to see, and HRV that was consistently low.
Primary doc said all good, no concerns here (patient feels pretty good and looks healthy for their age).
But my question is why do we wait for something to happen, symptoms to arise, numbers to creep just over that “normal” line before acting? Damage from these slow diseases of decline takes years to accumulate, so shouldn't we start paying attention to our body a bit earlier than this??? We want to prevent or decrease symptoms of disease as early as possible.
What can we do about it? The #1 thing is looking at your LIFESTYLE. Yep. Sounds too simple, but our bodies react to INPUTS, and what have you been putting IN your body?
1. Movement
2. Sleep
3. Food
4. Stress Management
5. Mental Health
We attacked some of these areas, and 3 months later our numbers are improving. Resting Heart Rate has dropped from 68 to 58, HRV scores are finally beginning to slowly climb and we've been seeing 30's on some good days, and readiness score improving (which means sleep and stress management has improved).
