Nah, you’re not getting old!

So… how ARE you feeling? Are you waking up every morning refreshed? Or are you constantly feeling like you can’t keep up? Are you training hard every workout, leaving nothing on the table, eating and sleeping well, yet you still drag and can’t shake the body aches, or that irritability? No you’re not getting old, you’re just not allowing your body to RECOVER. You can’t THRIVE under constant stress, you can only SURVIVE. Our bodies fend off stress from all directions… poor sleep, inadequate nutrients, work problems, relationship tension, emotional issues and… training stress. It body doesn’t discriminate. When you are in a constant state of FIGHT OR FLIGHT, you are not thriving you are surviving, and your body is spending all of its energy to get back to a state of calm, of HOMEOSTASIS. So, why do you need recovery days from the gym? And why do you need relaxing days spent wandering the woods, laughing with friends, walking the beach? What about that meditation, massage and those ice baths? We are as good as our recovery. Balls to the wall for days will not make you a better athlete, and will not get you the body you want. Mixing up your workouts, nurturing your body with the right nutrition, sleeping, hydrating and social positivity will lead to the progress you crave.
